MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University baseball team erupted for a 20-2 victory at cross-town rival FDU-Florham Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Madison Avenue Challenge.
Â
The Rangers (4-1) finished the weekend 2-0 after topping Saint Elizabeth University 9-3 on Friday. Drew has now won its last four games.
Â
The Blue and Green racked up 18 hits, the most by the Rangers since their 23-hit performance in a win over Northland on March 5, 2020 in Florida.
Â
Drew scored at least one run in every inning from the third through the ninth and put the game out of reach with 12 runs over the last two innings.
Â
Sophomore
John Furch led the way for the Rangers, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Classmate
Will Fritch finished 2-for-4 with a double and a home run while senior

Â
Sophomore
Kenny Yonker pitched six innings to earn the win for the Rangers. He allowed just three hits and one run while striking out four.
Â
Drew's victory capped a wild day at FDU's Naimoli Ballpark. Earlier in the day, the Devils rallied with six runs in the bottom of the ninth to beat Saint Elizabeth 15-14 in a game that lasted three hours and 40 minutes.
Â
The Rangers never looked back after scoring the game's first six runs, which included a solo homer from sophomore
Raiden Yost in the top of the third. Drew surged to a 4-0 lead with a three-run fourth, capped by an RBI-double from Coleman.
Â
Fritch doubled home a run in the fourth before Coleman singled in another in the sixth.
Â
In the meantime, Yonker (2-0) blanked the Devils through the first five innings and fanned the side in the third. He yielded his only run in the bottom of the sixth before the Rangers came back with two in the top of the seventh, which included another RBI-double from Coleman.
Â
The Devils scored their final run in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 8-2 game, but that's when the Rangers broke it open with an eight-run, six-hit eighth that included a solo homer from Fritch, a two-run double from Fuentes, and RBI-singles from sophomore
Dallas Lorenzetti and Furch.
Â
Drew set the final score with a four-run ninth. Sophomore
Mike Gallaro drilled an RBI ground-rule double while Furch set the final score with a two-run single.
Â
Freshman

Â
The Rangers continue their season March 6-10, when they compete in six games during their spring break trip to Florida.
