MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's lacrosse team outscored Purchase College 12-0 over the game's opening 40 minutes and the Rangers coasted to a 16-2 non-conference victory Wednesday evening in Ranger Stadium.

Sophomore Mike DeMayo tied a career-high with eight points on four goals and a career-high four assists for Drew (3-2), which outshot the Panthers 71-16. Classmate Charlie Collins contributed three goals and two assists while senior Craig Wilkie added three goals and one helper. Junior Matt Giordano and junior Brett Spafford scored two goals each.

Junior GJ Nazziola and freshman Theo Krueger each finished 8-for-9 on faceoffs, and junior Tyler McCarthy registered four caused turnovers for the Rangers.

Will Boes made 21 saves for the Panthers (1-1).

The Rangers used a balanced scoring attack early, as six different players scored the team's first six goals. Wilkie added his second goal of the game with 7:56 left in the second quarter to give his team a 7-0 halftime lead.

Collins and DeMayo each struck twice in the third quarter, when Drew scored the first five goals of the period to make it a dozen unanswered tallies. Purchase got on the scoreboard with 2:55 left in the third quarter.

Four different players scored in the fourth quarter as the Rangers captured their inaugural meeting with the Panthers.

Three different goalies saw action for Drew. Freshman Matt Duarte saved Purchase's only first-half shot on goal before giving way to classmate Sawyer Kennedy, who turned aside four shots over 17 minutes in the second half. Senior Yoel Ovadya played the final 12 minutes between the pipes for the Rangers.

Drew continues its season on Saturday, when it visits Penn College in another non-conference affair starting at 3 p.m.
