Simmons Scores 100th Career Goal in Loss to Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. – Senior Hailey Simmons scored her 100th career goal but the Drew University women's lacrosse team lost by a 16-7 count at Rowan University in a non-conference matchup Wednesday evening.

Simmons reached her milestone when she struck with 8:43 remaining in the game. She is the first Ranger to achieve the feat since Allie DiDario C'21 in the 2019 season.

Junior Lizzy Barrett paced the Rangers (0-2) with three goals and one assist while classmate Ella Champigny contributed a pair of goals. Junior Catherine DiPatri added six ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while senior Anna Horne collected 15 saves.

Julianna Corson posted four goals and one assist to lead the Profs (2-0).

Rowan used a big first quarter to open up an early gap. The hosts started the game on a 6-0 run and led 9-1 at the end of the opening period and 10-3 at the half.

The Rangers edged to within six on a pair of occasions in the second half, first on a goal from Champigny with 10:34 left in the third quarter that made it 10-4, then on a Simmons' milestone tally that made it 13-7. However, the Profs tacked on three insurance goals over the final 6:19.

Drew returns to action on Sunday, when it begins its spring break trip to Clearwater, Fla. with a matchup versus Grove City College.
