SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Junior Lizzy Barrett scored the game-winning goal with two seconds left in overtime, lifting the Drew University women's lacrosse team to a 12-11 victory at Susquehanna University in the Landmark conference opener for both teams on Saturday.

Barrett finished with four goals and three assists for the Rangers (3-4, 1-0 LC), who held off a late rally from the River Hawks.

Senior Hailey Simmons added two goals and two assists for Drew while junior Ella Champigny contributed with two goals, six draw controls, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers. Senior Jenna Draney and junior Emma DiPatri added two goals apiece for Drew while senior Anna Horne collected nine saves.

The Rangers raced out to a 6-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, when DiPatri and Champigny scored two goals each. The River Hawks scored the first two goals of the second quarter, but Barrett and Simmons scored twice over a two-and-a-half minute stretch midway through the period to put Drew up 8-5 at the half.

Simmons struck again with 9:59 left in the third quarter to put the Rangers up 9-6, but the River Hawks responded with a 5-2 run to end regulation. The hosts scored back-to-back goals before Barrett cashed in with her third tally of the game with 2:53 left in the third quarter, making it 10-8 heading into the fourth quarter.

Susquehanna scored the first two goals of the final stanza to pull even for the first time since it was 1-1. Draney answered for Drew, finishing off a dish from Barrett with 9:55 on the clock. But the Hawks responded with 6:04 to go on a goal from Allie Kutler then eventually sent the game to OT.

The Rangers controlled the ball for nearly the entire extra session after Draney won the opening draw. Barrett fired off a shot with 2:11 left before Emma DiPatri followed up with a shot on goal with 1:30 showing. After a Susquehanna clear, Horne saved the River Hawks' lone shot of the period.

Drew cleared it with 28 seconds left, and with the clock winding down, Barrett drove in from X, juked out her defender, and buried a shot inside the far post, giving the Rangers the victory in their overtime contest of the year.
