NAPLES, Fla. – The Drew University softball team opened the second day of its spring break trip to Florida with another come-from-behind victory, scoring three times in the sixth en route to a 4-3 victory over Anna Maria.
In the second game of the day, the Rangers (3-1) defeated Grove City 6-4 to go 2-0 on the day.Â
Against Anna Maria, the Rangers trailed 2-0 going into the top of the fourth. That's when senior
Molly O'Brien hit another home run – her second in the first three games of the season – to cut the lead down to one.Â
Anna Maria responded, however, by scoring one in the bottom fourth on an RBI-single to extend the lead back to two runs.
In the top of the sixth inning Drew got things rolling off the hot bat of sophomore
Deja Robinson (.727 avg, eight RBI), who chased home two runs with a single to right, evening the game at 3 apiece. SophomoreÂ
Mackenzie Pisani then singled to leftfield to score Robinson, and the Rangers would hold on 4-3 for the victory.Â
Sophomore
Tyler Saunders tossed four innings in a no-decision before senior
Bailey Comeau came on to throw the last three frames, striking out four to pick up the win.Â
Freshman
Haley Meierhofer, O'Brien, Robinson, and freshman
Zoey Shimp collected two hits each.Â
In the second game of the morning, the Rangers faced Grove City, which struck for a run in the first to take a 1-0 lead. However, Drew answered with three runs in the third and fourth innings and never looked back.Â
Robinson continued her hot streak with two hits and three RBI. Freshman
Josie Di Troia, O'Brien, and Meierhofer added an RBI each.Â
Senior
Brianna Seals pitched a complete game for the Rangers, scattering eight hits and striking out four.
Drew returns to action on Tuesday morning, when it takes on John Carroll University at 9:00 and Alverno University at 11:00.
