ELVERSON, Pa. – The Drew University men's golf team broke 300 for the eighth time this season, shooting a 299 in the opening round of the Alvernia Invitational on Monday at Stonewall Links
 
The Rangers are currently tied with Stevens for third place among 12 teams. Eastern University leads with a 293 while York (Pa.) College is second with a 294.
 
Leading the way for Drew were freshmen Bryce Garnier and Elliot Parker, each of whom shot a 1-over-par 71 and are tied for fifth in a field of 60. Junior Myles Cherry shot a 78 and is tied for 30th while freshman Shiv Bhaskar rounded out the team scoring with a 79, tying him for 35th. Sophomore Mike Ford is also in action and opened with an 83.
 
The tournament concludes on Tuesday at LedgeRock Golf Course in Mohnton, Pennsylvania, starting at noon.
