MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's tennis team went undefeated in Landmark Conference play for the third year in a row, blanking Elizabethtown College 9-0 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon.
The Rangers (12-4, 7-0 LC), who posted their eighth perfect Landmark Conference season, have also won 22 consecutive Landmark Conference regular-season matches dating back to the 2019 season.
Prior to the match, Drew held a brief ceremony to honor the five seniors on the men's team –
Leo Ambrogio,
Dan Blumenthal,
John Dickey,
Avi Perera, and
Bret Schuler – as well as the two seniors on the women's team.
The Rangers opened the match with doubles wins from Ambrogio and Schuler at No. 1 (8-1), Blumenthal and sophomore
Sergey Kravchenko at No. 2 (8-0), and junior
Santo Carroccia and sophomore
Owen Reynolds at No. 3 (8-0).
Drew continued to roll in singles play, earning victories from Ambrogio at No. 1 (6-1, 6-1), freshman
Shivi Perera at No. 2 (6-1, 6-1), Schuler at No. 3 (6-0, 6-1), Blumenthal at No. 4 (6-1, 6-0), Dickey at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0), and junior
Jack Polvere at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0).
Drew will close out the regular season with a pair of non-conference matches this week, with split squads visiting Merchant Marine and Saint Elizabeth on Thursday.
