MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's team recorded its second straight shutout with a 9-0 victory at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in a non-conference tilt Thursday afternoon.
The Rangers (13-4) started with doubles wins by seniors
Leo Ambrogio and
Bret Schuler at No. 1 (8-3), juniors
Jack Polvere and
Daryl Wong Li-Hom at No. 2 (8-2) and senior
Avi Perera and sophomore
Sergey Kravchenko at No. 3 (8-6).
Wong Li-Hom and Ambrogio also earned singles wins at the top of the lineup, prevailing 6-1, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-4 at Nos. 1-2, respectively. Freshman
Shivi Perera captured a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3 while junior
Santo Carroccia registered a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 4. Senior
Dan Blumenthal secured a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 5 while Schuler earned a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.
The Rangers, who recently completed an undefeated (7-0) Landmark Conference regular season, are back in action on Friday, when they visit local rival Saint Elizabeth University at 3:30 p.m. in another non-conference tilt.
