MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's tennis team celebrated Senior Day with an 8-1 Landmark Conference victory over Elizabethtown College in a Landmark Conference match on Saturday at the Drew University Tennis Complex.
With the win, the Rangers (13-2, 6-0 LC) clinched the top seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Championships for the second year in a row. They also captured their 15th straight victory over a Landmark Conference opponent and their 13h consecutive Landmark Conference regular-season win.
Before the start of the match, Drew held a brief ceremony to honor its two seniors –
Sanne Bloemendaal and
Danielle DelRosso – as well as the five seniors on the Ranger men's team.
The Rangers opened the match by sweeping the doubles matches, earning wins from sophomore
Mary Kalorin and freshman
Sofiya Lebedeva at No. 1 (8-1), Bloemendaal and DelRosso at No. 2 (8-0), and sophomore
Elise Parisi and freshman
Natalia Zamora at No .3 (8-3).
Drew went on to captures wins at the top five singles flights. Junior
Melina Christodoulou prevailed at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-0) as did Kalorin at No. 2 (6-0, 6-2), Bloemendaal at No. 3 (6-4, 6-1), DelRosso at No. 4 (6-2, 6-1), and sophomore
Courtney Bressler at No. 5 (6-0, 6-4).
The Rangers play their Landmark Conference regular-season finale on Wednesday, when they visit the Royals in a 4 p.m. start.
