MADISON, N.J. – Senior
Jenna Draney scored her 100th career point and the Drew University women's lacrosse team downed Goucher College 19-2 in a Landmark Conference matchup Friday evening in Ranger Stadium.
Drew (7-5, 2-1 LC) never trailed after scoring the first five goals of the game. The Rangers went on to rack up 11 goals in the first quarter and led 15-2 at halftime.
Draney reached her milestone with her fourth and final goal of the night and now has 82 goals and 18 assists for her career.
Junior
Lizzy Barrett turned in a big all-around game for Drew, posting four goals, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers. Classmate
Emma DiPatri contributed three goals and one assist while junior
Ella Champigny contributed with two goals, one assist, and four ground balls. Senior
Hailey Simmons also scored two goals while freshman
Aubrey Welch totaled six draw controls.
Champigny scored a pair of goals in Drew's game-opening 5-0 run, which took just four and a half minutes. After Goucher (3-10, 0-3 LC) scored two of the next three goals, the Rangers closed the opening quarter with five straight tallies, including three inside the final minute and the last two coming from DiPatri.
The Rangers outscored the Gophers 4-0 in the second quarter, which included a pair of goals from Barrett. Draney netted all three of Drew's third-quarter goals, with her last one giving her 100 points.
Drew is back in action on Wednesday, when it hosts the University of Scranton at 4 p.m. in another Landmark Conference affair.
