EWING, N.J. – The Drew University women's tennis team saw its seven-match winning streak come to an end on Friday with a 9-0 non-conference loss at The College of New Jersey, ranked 40th in Division III.
The Rangers are now 9-2 on the season while the Lions improved to 8-3.
Drew had a pair of extremely close matches at the top of the lineup. In doubles play, sophomore
Mary Kalorin and freshman
Sofiya Lebedeva lost just 8-6 at the No. 1 spot, as the pair lost for just the second time in dual matches this season.
At No. 1 singles, Lebedeva lost the opening set 6-1 before rallying with a 6-4 second set. However, she was edged 11-9 in the third and deciding set for just her second loss of the season and her first in dual match play.
The Rangers return to Landmark Conference action on Saturday, when they visit Goucher College in a 1 p.m. start.
