TOWSON, Md. – The Drew University men's lacrosse team lost by a final of 12-4 at Goucher College in a Landmark Conference matchup on Saturday.
Sophomore
Mike DeMayo scored a pair of goals for the Rangers while junior
Tyler McCarthy posted five ground balls and six caused turnovers, tying the single-season CT record with his 31st of the year. Freshman
Matt Duarte made 10 saves, and junior
GJ Nazziola was 9-for-18 with seven ground balls.
Jacob Morgan posted three goals and five assists for Goucher (5-7, 2-1 LC) while Justin Lugo made 16 saves.
The Gophers never trailed after scoring the first five goals of the game. DeMayo put the Rangers on the scoreboard with 2:03 left in the opening quarter to make it 5-1 heading into the second period.
Drew closed the first half on a 3-0 run, receiving goals from junior
Parker Wills, DeMayo, and junior
Jordan Wilson, and trailed just 7-4 at the half. But Goucher would go on to shut out the Rangers in the second half, when Lugo made nine of his stop.
The Rangers pick up their schedule on Wednesday, when they host the University of Scranton at 7 p.m. in another Landmark Conference outing.
