MADISON, N.J. – Blaine Johnson has been selected as the first strength and conditioning coordinator in the history of Drew University, Director of Athletics
Christa Racine has announced.
"I am excited for Blaine to join our staff in this new position at Drew," said Racine. "He has gained a wealth of knowledge in a number of different sports and is well-equipped to assist in the development of our student-athletes."
Johnson will work closely with Drew University Director of Sports Medicine and Performance,
Christopher Ryan, to create strength and conditioning programs for all 26 of the Rangers' varsity sports teams.
"I'm excited and honored to be selected as the first Director of Strength and Conditioning for Drew University," said Johnson. "I can't wait to get started, and help build a culture all of Drew Athletics can be proud of."
Johnson arrives at the Forest after serving as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) since January. At NJIT, Johnson served as the lead strength and conditioning coach of the school's NCAA Division I men's tennis and swimming & diving programs while also implementing and teaching full programs and lifts to all other teams.
Prior to his stint with the Highlanders, Johnson worked as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University from 2021-23, when he created and executed strength programs for the Knights' Division I men's soccer, men's volleyball, and track & field (throws) teams. Additionally, he served as an intern at Rutgers University in 2021, organizing team lifts for the Scarlet Knights in addition to attending educational and professional development meetings.
Johnson earned a master's degree in sports management with a concentration in sports administration from Fairleigh Dickinson this past May. He also received a bachelor's degree in nutrition with a focus in health and exercise science from Rowan University in 2021.
Johnson holds multiple certifications, including both strength and conditioning and first aid and CPR.
