Jackson Makes 10 Saves in Loss at Widener

CHESTER, Pa. – Senior Olyvia Jackson made a season-high 10 saves, but Widener University scored the game's first two goals and edged the Rangers 3-2 in a non-conference field hockey matchup Wednesday evening.

Facing 24-shot attack, Jackson stood tall in the middle two quarters, when she collected nine of her stops.

Seniors Maxine Lloyd and Jackie Melone scored one goal apiece for Drew.

The Pride (2-2) scored twice in the first quarter, and it remained a 2-0 game until the final two minutes of the first half. Lloyd put the Rangers on the scoreboard when she converted a pass from freshman Emma Rider with just over two minutes left in the period, but Widener answered with 1:03 on the clock to assume a 3-1 lead at the break.

Jackson made five saves while blanking Widener in a scoreless third quarter. The Rangers pulled to within a goal with 52 seconds left in the game; however, Widener would not yield a shot the rest of the way.

The Rangers resume their schedule on Saturday, when they host Susquehanna University in their Landmark Conference opener starting at 1 p.m.
