Men’s Tennis Sweeps Lycoming, Yeshiva

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. and MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's tennis team won a pair of matches in two different states on Thursday.
 
The defending Landmark Conference champion Rangers opened the day with a 9-0 victory at Lycoming College in their Landmark opener while a separate squad topped Yeshiva University 8-1 in the Simon Forum in non-conference play.
 
Drew improved to 4-0 with its victories and with its win over Lycoming, which joined the Landmark Conference this season, the Rangers have now won 23 straight regular-season conference matches dating back to the 2018-19 season.
 
Against Lycoming (0-1), freshman Joshua Thomas, sophomore Nicolas Mobayed, freshman Angad Vohra, senior Jack Polvere, and freshman Ty Gelijns all earned two victories.
 
In doubles, Mobayed and Polvere won 8-3 at No. 1 while Thomas and Vohra prevailed 8-2 at No. 2. Freshman Ian Michel and Gelijns won 8-4 at No. 3.
 
The Rangers did not lose in four of its six singles matches, as Thomas (No. 1), Mobayed (No. 2), Vohra (No. 3), and junior Josh Kline (No. 5) all posted 6-0, 6-0 wins. Polvere contributed a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 4 while Gelijns posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6.
 
Versus Yeshiva (0-1), senior Avi Perera, sophomore Jesse Faro, sophomore Shivi Perera, and senior Santo Carroccia all captured two victories.
 
The Rangers earned two points in doubles on wins from Avi Perera and Faro at No. 1 and Carroccia and Shivi Perera at No. 2. Both won by an 8-2 count.
 
Drew went on to capture all six singles matches, getting victories from Avi Perera at No. 1 (6-2, 6-2), Faro at No. 2 (6-1, 6-1), Shivi Perera at No. 3 (6-3, 6-2), Carroccia at No. 4 (6-2, 6-3), freshman Yassine Rahi at No. 5 (6-4, 6-4), and junior Sergey Kravchenko at No. 6 (5-7, 6-1, 10-1) at No. 6.
 
Drew closes out its fall schedule Sept. 28-Oct. 1 when it hosts the ITA Division III Northeast Region Championships.
