SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Junior
Lauren Gaza was selected to the All-Tournament Team at the Union/Russel Sage Crosstown Crossover on Saturday at Union College.
The Rangers battled to a pair of close four-set decisions, taking on Skidmore and Union. Skidmore prevailed 24-26, 25-22, 25-20, 25-17 while Union earned a 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22 victory.
Against Skidmore, sophomore
Teeya Desgoutte posted a double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs while Gaza also registered a double-dip with 32 assists and 10 digs to go along with three service aces. Sophomore
Abigail Pereira aided the offensive attack with 12 kills and just four errors on 22 swings for a .364 hitting performance. Junior
Genevieve Sarinelli and sophomore
Emily Shirk contributed 21 and 12 digs, respectively while sophomore
Marissa Guajardo totaled three blocks.
Against Union, Desgoutte posted 11 kills and 20 digs while Shirk tallied 10 kills and served up three aces. Freshman
Alyssa Rachwal distributed 33 assists, Gaza scooped 20 digs, and Guajardo threw down another three blocks. Pereira pitched in with 11 digs.
The Rangers return home on Tuesday, when they host Muhlenberg College at 7 p.m. in another non-conference tilt.
