SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton got off to a quick start and the nationally-ranked Royals handed the Drew University women's basketball a 73-26 setback in Landmark Conference Wednesday evening.
Scranton (16-2, 9-2 LC), ranked No. 9 by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and No. 15 by D3hoops.com, raced out to a 26-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Senior forward
Jamie Struble finished with five points, six rebounds, and a pair of steals for the Rangers (6-12, 4-7 LC) while freshman guard
Olivia Aliotta also scored five points. Freshman guard
Sarah Smout contributed five rebounds for Drew.
Kaci Kranson posted 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the Royals.
Drew was playing a nationally-ranked opponent for the third time this season.
The Rangers are back in action on Saturday, when they visit Lycoming College at 4 p.m. in another Landmark Conference affair.
