MADISON, N.J. – Catholic University scored in the 80th minute to break open a scoreless game and the Cardinals edged the Rangers 1-0 in a Landmark Conference showdown Saturday afternoon in Ranger Stadium.
Drew (7-5-2, 1-3 LC) outshot Catholic 8-7 and graduate student
David Hoyt finished with four saves for the Rangers.
Owen Allegro made five saves for Catholic (5-5-2, 2-0-2), which earned an overtime win over Drew in the semifinals of last year's Landmark Conference Championships.
The Rangers held a 3-2 shot advantage in the first half, when Hoyt made a pair of saves. Junior
Gabe Di Pierro placed Drew's only shot on frame during the period.
Hoyt stopped two more shots during the second half, when each side attempted five shots. Drew put four of its shots on goal, as junior

Kevin Martinez, and senior
Kevin Kiernan challenged Allegro with one SOG each.
The Cardinals broke through when Holden Woodings finished off a through ball from Hayden Lim for his Landmark Conference-leading eighth goal of the season.
The Rangers are back in action on Wednesday, when they host Moravian University in another Landmark Conference affair starting at 7 p.m.
