Field Hockey Tops Etown For First Landmark Conference Win

MADISON, N.J. – Sophomore Beth Kelly posted a career-high 14 saves while three different Rangers scored a goal and the Drew University women's volleyball team earned its first Landmark Conference victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Elizabethtown College on Saturday in Ranger Stadium.

The Blue Jays scored first, but the Rangers (7-4, 1-2 LC) rallied with three goals over the second and third quarters.

Drew has now equaled its victory total from each of the past two seasons.

The Rangers topped Etown for the first time since 2014 in the two sides' first meeting as Landmark Conference opponents.

Kelly exceeded her previous career-best by three saves and has now reached double figures three times this season.

Angelina Giglio-Tos stopped 10 shots for the Blue Jays (4-7, 1-2 LC).

Each side attempted 21 shots on the day while Etown held an 11-9 edge in penalty corners.

Drew Bridges scored for the visitors with just under six minutes left in the first quarter and her team led 1-0 at the end of the opening period.

Senior Lauren Cagliostro put the Rangers on the scoreboard just over a minute into the second quarter when she converted her sixth goal of the season and her second penalty stroke of the year. Neither side scored for the remainder of the half and it was a 1-1 game at the intermission.

Senior Janelle Arch scored what held up as the game-winning goal with 9:38 remaining in the third quarter, tipping in a blast from freshman Ellie Kopec. Just under a minute later, Arch slotted a pass to sophomore Brooke Carlisle, who pushed the ball inside the right post for her first goal of the season.

It proved to be more than enough offense for Kelly, who turned aside each of the last seven shots on goal for Etown following the goal.

The Rangers continue their season on Wednesday, when they visit Delaware Valley University in a non-conference tilt starting at 7 p.m.
