DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Delaware Valley University scored with six minutes left on a penalty stroke and the host Aggies handed the Drew University field hockey team a 1-0 setback in a non-conference outing Wednesday evening.
Del Val (6-8) outshot the Rangers 14-6, but sophomore
Beth Kelly made seven saves for Drew (7-6).
The reigning Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Kelly made four of her saves in the first half and the two sides heading into the intermission tied 0-0.
Kelly turned aside two more shots in the third quarter before the Aggies finally broke through in the final period.
Junior
Emily Monaco led Drew with two shots on goal.
The Rangers continue their season on Saturday, when they visit Catholic University in a Landmark Conference affair starting at noon.
