SCRANTON, Pa. – The Drew University saw its 2024 season come to a close Thursday evening in the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Championships, as the Rangers dropped a 5-0 decision at No. 14-ranked University of Scranton.
The fourth-seeded Rangers finished the season with a 9-7-4 record and reached the semifinals of the conference tournament for the third year in a row.
The top-seeded Royals (16-1-2) advance to the championship match to take on second-seeded Lycoming, a 2-1 winner over No. 6 seed Moravian in the other semifinal.
Thursday night's match marked the seventh time Drew and Scranton met in the conference playoffs but the first time they faced off in any round other than the final.
Five different players scored a goal for the Royals, who led 2-0 at halftime despite being held to just three shots on goal in the opening period.
The Rangers recorded all three of their shots on goal for the night in the second half, with
Rebecca Racine (53', 81') and
Maggie Speckhart (85') each finding frame.
Sophomore
Sarah Crowley made four saves for Drew while Nicole Olson stopped three shots for the Royals.
