UNION, N.J. – Kean University defeated the Drew University baseball team by a final of 11-2 on Tuesday in a game that was called with two outs in the top of the sixth inning due to rain.

The game was originally scheduled as Drew's season opener back on Feb. 17 but was rescheduled due to snow.

The Cougars (7-1), who received votes in the latest D3baseball.com Top-25 poll, scored six runs in the bottom of the second, then broke it open with a five-run fifth.

Senior Anthony Hernandez went 2-for-3 with a double for the Rangers (1-2) while senior Anthony Diaz Jr. tripled and scored.

Freshman starting pitcher Tyler Bell made his collegiate debut for the Rangers. He struck out three over two innings of work and was charged with the loss. Junior transfer Vincent Desantis tossed 2 2/3 innings in relief and fanned two while junior Connor Ruscansky also worked 1/3 of an inning.

The Rangers make their annual spring break trip when they compete in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational March 4-8. Drew opens the trip with a doubleheader versus Marian University on Monday.
