WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Drew University baseball team rallied late but host Wilkes University prevailed 10-7 in a Landmark Conference series finale on Sunday.

The Rangers (7-5, 1-2 LC) trailed 10-3 before scoring four times in the top of the eighth. Drew had the tying run at the plate in the ninth, but Wilkes reliever Mike Show induced a game-ending double play.

Eight starters batted safely for Drew, which outhit the Colonels 12-10. Junior
Raiden Yost finished 3-for-5 with a triple while junior
Ryan Jones and freshman
Aiden Mitchell each collected two hits.

Junior
Connor Ruscansky fired three scoreless innings to allow the Rangers to make their late comeback. Sophomore
Brandon Kobryn started on the mound and pitched three innings before junior
Nic Curcio tossed two innings.

Wilton Abreu (5-0) threw six innings to earn the win for Wilkes while Show recorded the final four outs for the save.

The Colonels struck early with a four-run first, highlighted by a three-run homer from Zach Luksic. The Rangers got on the scoreboard in the third on singles from junior
Dallas Lorenzetti and senior
Anthony Hernandez.

Wilkes pushed across three more in the fourth to go up 6-1 before Drew answered with two in the fifth, which included an RBI-single from Yost. The Colonels scored one in the bottom half and two in the sixth to assume their 10-3 advantage.

In the eighth, Mitchell and Jones started got things started with back-to-back singles. Sophomore
Thomas Zammitti brought home Mitchell with a pinch-hit sac fly before junior
Mike Gallaro followed up with a single. Jones scored on a wild pitch before Diaz singled in Gallaro, and Yost capped the big inning with an RBI-triple. But that's when Show came into the game and induced a pop-out to end the threat.

Drew threatened once again in the ninth, when senior
Nate Miller led off with a single. Two batters later, Jones singled again, putting runners on the corners before Wilkes turned two.

The Rangers continue their Landmark Conference season on Tuesday, when they visit Moravian University in a single game starting at 3:30 p.m.
