Champigny Scores 100th Goal as Rangers Top Lycoming on Senior Day

MADISON, N.J. – Senior Ella Champigny scored her 100th career goal and the Drew University women's lacrosse team celebrated Senior Day with a 19-5 victory over Lycoming College in a Landmark Conference tilt Saturday afternoon in Ranger Stadium.

Champigny reached the milestone with her sixth and final goal of the game, an unassisted tally with 4:24 left in the third quarter that put the Rangers up 15-4. Her six goals marked a career-high.

Senior Lizzy Barrett contributed three goals and three assists for Drew (7-7, 3-3 LC) while classmate Mary Kate Davidson racked up three goals, one assist, six draw controls, five ground balls, and a pair of caused turnovers. Senior Emma DiPatri also scored a pair of goals.

Freshman Paige Shaw played the first three quarters in goal for the Rangers and made seven saves while senior Carly Smith played the final 15 minutes and turned aside four shots.

Riley Block scored five goals to lead the Warriors (7-7, 3-3 LC).

Drew's nine seniors will honored in a ceremony prior to the start of the game.

The Rangers never trailed after scoring the game's first three goals and outscored the Warriors 9-1 in the opening quarter. Champigny scored three times in the period while Barrett struck twice.

Lycoming temporarily halted Drew's momentum, outscoring the Rangers 2-1 in the second quarter to make it a 10-3 game at the half. But Drew erupted with seven goals in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Barrett and Champigny each scored twice in the quarter and the Rangers carried a 17-4 lead into the final stanza.

Drew plays its regular-season home finale on Wednesday, when it takes on Moravian University at 5 p.m. in another Landmark Conference affair.
