BETHLEHEM, Pa. and MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's tennis team recorded a pair of victories on Tuesday.
The Rangers (10-6, 6-1 LC) earned a 6-3 Landmark Conference victory at Moravian University and won by an identical score at home against Rowan College of South Jersey in a non-conference affair.
At Moravian, the Rangers jumped to a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Freshman
Daniel Arcari and sophomore
Jesse Faro earned a tight 8-7 (7-4) victory at No. 2, improving to 6-0 in Landmark Conference play, while sophomore
Shivi Perera and senior
Jack Polvere prevailed 8-2 at No. 3.
Drew extended its lead to 4-1 after receiving singles wins from Faro at No. 1 (6-4, 6-1) and Arcari at No. 3 (7-5, 5-1, retired). The Greyhounds earned a victory at No. 5 to make it a 4-2 match before senior
Daryl Wong Li-Hom clinched it for the Rangers with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 victory at No. 2.
Perera also collected a singles victory, rallying for a 5-7, 7-5, 10-6 win at No. 4.
At home, the Rangers also won two of three doubles matches. Freshman
Ty Gelijns and
Joshua Thomas won 8-2 at No. 2 while juniors
Josh Kline and
Owen Reynolds claimed an 8-2 victory at No. 3.
In singles action, Drew collected victories from Thomas at No. 1 (5-3, retired), Kline at No. 2 (6-0, 6-2), Gelijns at No. 3 (6-3, 6-1), and freshman
Ian Michel at No. 5 (6-3, 6-0).
The Rangers return to action on Wednesday, when they visit Wilkes University at 3:30 p.m. in Landmark Conference action.
