Bradley Tosses Shutout as Rangers Split at Stevens

HOBOKEN, N.J. – Junior Teagan Bradley fired a three-hit shutout in the opener and hit a home run in the nightcap as the Drew University softball team split a non-conference doubleheader at Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday.

The Rangers (14-12) won the opener 6-0 before the Ducks (14-14) captured the nightcap 5-3.

Sophomore Aurora Marino led Drew at the plate in the first game, finishing 2-for-5 with four RBIs. Junior Delaney O'Donoghue, sophomore Olivia Magliacano, and freshman Daylin Evans-Lascik collected two hits apiece in the opener.

The first game featured a pitcher's duel in the early going, as Bradley and Kyra Fischer each threw four scoreless innings to begin the day. But the Rangers broke through in the fifth, scoring twice on four hits. Evans-Lascick and senior Molly O'Brien each singled before Magliacano doubled in both runners to provide Bradley with all the offense she would need.

Drew doubled its lead on a two-run double from Marino in the sixth before the Rangers tacked on two more runs in the seventh.

Bradley (6-4), meanwhile, was nearly perfect in the latter portion of the game. She did not allow a hit over the final three innings and retired nine of the final 10 batters she faced.

In the second game, O'Brien finished 3-for-4 with three stolen bases for the Rangers.

Stevens struck early, pushing across three runs in the first. However, freshman Allie Porbansky blanked the Ducks over the next four innings and it was still a 3-0 game heading into the seventh, when junior Fran O'Kleasky doubled in a run before Bradley drilled a two-run homer to pull the Rangers even at 3-3.

Stevens answered with two runs on four hits in the bottom half.

Porbansky (4-6) pitched all six innings for Drew and struck out four.

The Rangers are back in action on Friday, when they host Rutgers-Newark at 3 p.m. in another non-conference twinbill.
