Women’s Lacrosse Runs Past Goucher For Third Straight Win

TOWSON, Md. – The Drew University women's lacrosse team raced out to a 12-3 halftime lead and the Rangers cruised to an 18-4 Landmark Conference victory at Goucher College on Saturday.
 
Drew (9-7, 5-3 LC), which has won its last three games, received a career-high seven goals from senior Lizzy Barrett, who also posted three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Senior Ella Champigny added five goals, one assist, four ground balls, four caused turnovers, and three draw controls while classmate Mary Kate Davidson contributed two goals and three caused turnovers.
 
Senior Catherine DiPatri also picked up four ground balls while freshman Paige Shaw made five saves.
 
The Rangers poured it on in the first quarter, when they outscored the Gophers 7-0 while outshooting the hosts 15-2. Barrett scored three goals in the period while Champigny struck twice.
 
Goucher cut into the deficit with the first two goals of the second quarter but the Rangers answered with a 5-1 run to end the half. Barrett capped the stanza with a three-goal flurry over a 3:06 stretch that gave the Rangers their nine-goal lead at the break.
 
Four different Rangers scored in the third quarter as the Rangers pushed their lead to 16-4, then tacked on a pair of tallies in the final period.
 
The Rangers close out the regular season next Saturday, when they visit Juniata College in a Landmark Conference affair starting at 1 p.m.
