Veith Reaches 300 Wins as Rangers Sweep Baruch on Senior Day

MADISON, N.J. – Scott Veith reached his 300th career coaching victory and the Drew University men's and women's tennis teams swept Baruch College on Senior Day in the regular-season finale for both teams Monday afternoon at the Drew Tennis Complex.
 
The Rangers won the men's match 8-1 and the women's competition 6-3 in the regular-season finale for both teams.
 
Veith has now posted 301 career wins, including 165 at Drew (99 men, 66 women) since arriving at the Forest in 2018. He also led the FDU-Florham men's and women's teams to a combined 136 victories prior to his appointment at Drew.
 
Prior to the start of the match, Drew's six seniors were honored in a brief ceremony.
 
Drew's men's team (13-6) opened by sweeping all three doubles matches, including tiebreaker wins at Nos. 1-2. Seniors Santo Carroccia and Daryl Wong Li-Hom prevailed 8-7 (7-5) at No. 1 while freshman Daniel Arcari and sophomore Jesse Faro earned an 8-7 (7-4) victory at No. 2. Sophomore Shivi Perera and senior Jack Polvere contributed an 8-5 win at No. 3.
 
In singles play, the Rangers captured victories from Faro at No. 1 (6-3, 7-5), Wong Li-Hom at No. 2 (7-6 (6-4), 6-4), Arcari at No. 3 (6-3, 6-4), Perera at No. 5 (6-3, 6-2), and Carroccia at No. 6 (6-4, 0-6, 10-8).
 
The women's team fell behind 2-1 after the doubles competition, rallying to win at Nos. 2-6 singles en route to its first non-conference win of the season.
 
In doubles, freshman Maddie Krzanowski and senior Michelle Lombardi claimed Drew's lone victory, winning 8-3.
 
Junior Mary Kalorin won by retirement at No. 2 while sophomore Natalia Zamora captured a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 3. Picking up additional singles wins were freshman Danielle Pettoni at No. 4 (6-0, 6-1), Krzanowski at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0), and freshman Riley Roesel at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0).
 
Both the men's and women's teams have clinched a first-round bye in next week's Landmark Conference Championships and will host semifinal matches on Thursday (women) and Friday (men).
