Women’s Tennis Downs Moravian, Moves to 6-0 in Landmark Conference

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Drew University women's tennis team earned a 6-3 victory at Moravian University on Tuesday and in the process, moved into sole possession of first place in the Landmark Conference standings.
 
The Rangers (6-5, 6-0 LC), the only undefeated team remaining in conference play, have now won their last five matches while extending their winning streak versus Landmark Conference opponents to 24. Drew has also won its last 20 Landmark Conference regular-season matches. Drew earned its 23rd straight victory over a Landmark Conference opponent and collected its 21st consecutive regular-season conference win.
 
Drew won two of three doubles match to take an early 2-1 lead. Senior Melina Christodoulou and junior Mary Kalorin won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles while junior Courtney Bresler and sophomore Natalia Zamora claimed an 8-4 victory at No. 3, pushing their Landmark Conference record to 4-0.
 
Christodoulou's doubles win was the 35th of her career, placing her into a tie with her sister, Christina Christodoulou C'20, for seventh in team history.
 
The Rangers went on to win four of the six singles matches. Freshman Maddie Krzanowski won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 before Christodoulou earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 1. Kalorin then clinched the match for Drew when she claimed a 7-5, 6-1 win at second singles, pushing the Rangers' lead to 5-1 while staying perfect at 6-0 in Landmark play this season.
 
Freshman Riley Roesel captured Drew's final victory of the day with a well-earned 6-3, 5-7, 10-6 win at No. 6.
 
The Rangers continue their season on Saturday, when they host Goucher College at 1 p.m. in another Landmark Conference tilt.
