MADISON, N.J. – Senior defender
Lauren Cagliostro scored the game-winning goal just 26 seconds into overtime and the Drew University field hockey team earned a 2-1 victory at cross-town rival FDU-Florham in its season opener Friday evening.
It was Cagliostro's fourth career goal but her first game-winner, and it gave the Rangers their first victory in the Battle of Madison Avenue since 2013.
The Devils went ahead after scoring with just over a minute left in the first quarter. It was still a one-goal game heading into the fourth quarter, but that's what junior
Emily Monaco scored off a feed from sophomore
Chandler Straub 1:10 into the final period, setting up Cagliostro's heroics.
Sophomore
Beth Kelly made four saves while making her first collegiate start for Drew.
The Rangers return to action on Wednesday, when they host Manhattanville at 4 p.m. in their home opener.
