MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University field hockey team lost by a 7-1 count to Husson University in a non-conference outing Sunday afternoon in Ranger Stadium.
Senior
Tyler Olivio scored a goal for the Rangers (3-1), who were handed their first loss of the season.
The Eagles (3-1) netted two goals in each of the first two quarters to assume a 4-0 halftime advantage.
After a scoreless third quarter, Olivio put the Rangers on the scoreboard with 11:58 remaining in the game. Following a Drew corner, freshman
Emily Caporrino put a shot on goal that resulted in a defensive save. But Olivio quickly pushed home the rebound on the right post for her third goal of the season.
Husson answered with three more tallies over the game's final eight minutes.
Sophomore
Beth Kelly started in goal for the Rangers and made two saves in the first half. Freshman
Dominique Flores came on to make her collegiate debut and also turned aside a pair of shots while playing the second half.
The Rangers continue their season on Wednesday, when they visit Cedar Crest College in a non-conference tilt starting at 7 p.m.
