MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's basketball team lost by a final of 78-39 to undefeated University of Scranton, ranked No. 2 by D3hoops.com and No. 3 by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening in Baldwin Gym.

Junior forward Gianna Pica and sophomore guard Alice Altomare led the Rangers with eight points apiece while sophomore guard Amy Rachilla dished out four assists for the Rangers (10-8, 5-6 LC).

Kaci Kranson scored 29 points to lead the Royals.

The Rangers kept within striking distance in the first quarter, and Scranton led just 13-9 at the end of the period after senior guard Isabella Lalo dropped in a floater at the buzzer.

The Royals nudged their lead to 10 early in the second quarter, but Drew rallied to make it a five-point game on a 3-pointer from Pica with 6:48 to go. Scranton still trailed just 26-21 after a 3-pointer from sophomore guard Alice Altomare with 3:22 remaining, but that's when the Royals scored 12 unanswered points and led 38-23 at the intermission.

Scranton broke it open in the third quarter, when it outscored the Rangers 25-5 to go up 63-28. Drew would not go quietly, however, and was outscored just 15-11 in the final period.
