DALLAS, Pa. – The Drew University men's volleyball team lost to a pair of nationally-ranked opponents on the opening day of the Misericordia University Cougar Kickoff Classic on Friday.
The Rangers opened the night with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-19) loss to No. 20 Misericordia before falling 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-15) to No. 17 MIT.
Against Misericordia, freshman
Gio Martin posted eight kills and seven digs while junior
Andrew DuHaime notched five kills and four digs. Senior
Huriel Perez distributed eight assists while freshman
Quinn Donahue dished out seven assists.
Martin threw down five more kills versus MIT while senior
Ephraim Smith contributed four kills and just one error on eight attempts for a .375 hitting night. Freshman
Michael Shipman contributed three kills and three blocks, including a pair of solo stuffs. DuHaime passed out eight assists.
The Rangers conclude tournament play with two more matches on Saturday, starting a tilt versus No. 12 Messiah University at 11 a.m., marking the team's third-straight match versus a nationally-ranked foe. Drew then takes on Nichols College at 1 p.m. to close out the weekend.
