Big Second Half Sends Etown Over Field Hockey

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Elizabethtown College pulled away in the second half en route to a 9-2 victory over the Drew University field hockey team Wednesday evening.
 
After a scores opening quarter, the Blue Jays (7-9, 4-3 LC) netted a pair of goals in the second half to assume a 2-0 halftime lead.
 
The hosts extended their lead to 6-0 in the third quarter before the Rangers (14-3, 4-3 LC) stemmed the rally with a pair of tallies early in the final period. Sophomore Emily Caporrino scored an unassisted tally with 9:44 remaining for her ninth goal of the season. Junior Liriana Seferovic followed up with eight minutes remaining, taking a feed from freshman Bella Fini and potting her seventh goal of the season.
 
Elizabethtown closed the game with three goals in the last four minutes.
 
Junior Beth Kelly made 13 saves over the opening three quarters for Drew while sophomore Dominique Flores turned aside two shots in the final period.
 
The Rangers continue their season on Saturday, when they visit Juniata College at noon in another Landmark Conference affair.
