HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Sophomore
Emily Caporrino scored a pair of goals to lead the Drew University field hockey team to a 2-1 victory at Juniata College in a Landmark Conference affair Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Rangers (13-4, 5-3 LC) now find themselves tied with Elizabethtown College for third place in the Landmark Conference standings with just one game remaining.
Caporrino, who posted her third multiple-goal outing of the season, put Drew on top when she scored off an assist from freshman
Karine Johnson three minutes into the second quarter and the Rangers carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, Caporrino provided what held up as the game-winning goal, an unassisted tally with 9:35 remaining.
The Eagles (2-16, 0-8 LC) pulled even with 3:28 to go, but the Rangers did not yield another shot the rest of the way.
Junior
Beth Kelly made four saves for Drew, whch held a 12-8 shot advantage.
The Rangers close out the regular season on Wednesday, when they host the University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference tilt starting at 7 p.m.
