BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Drew University women's golf team competed in its second 36-hole tournament on Saturday and Sunday and placed 11th out of 14 teams at the Polar Bear Shootout, hosted by Bowdoin College at the Brunswick Golf Club.
The Rangers shot a 681 (338-343) and placed 11th in a competitive field of 14 teams primarily from the New England region.
Leading the way for the Rangers were sophomore
Josephine Nguyen and senior
Roxy Riles, who tied for 43rd among 86 competitors with a 162 on the par-73 course. Nguyen (76-86) posted three of her four birdies in the opening round while Riles (82-80) notched one birdie in each round.
Sophomore
Isabella Borte was Drew's third finisher, placing 68th with a 177 (90-87), while senior
Emily Rhode tied for 71st with a 180 (90-90). Borte birdied two holes on Sunday while Rhode recorded one birdie each day.
Junior
Dabin Lee was also in action and came in 81st with a 198 (93-105) that included one birdie on Saturday.
The Rangers continue their fall season Oct. 19-20 at The Melee, held at Ford's Colony Country Club in Williamsburg, Va.
