MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's soccer team jumped to a 2-0 halftime lead, but Moravian University rallied with three second-half goals to come away with a 3-2 victory over the Rangers in Landmark Conference action Tuesday evening in Ranger Stadium.
Sophomores
Kristina Lowe and
Sophia Lara scored one goal apiece for the Rangers (4-3-2, 1-2 LC) while classmate
Dani Iannelli recorded four saves.
In the 21st minute, junior
Maeve O'Murchu lofted a cross to the top of the 18, where freshman
Olivia Klein controlled it and passed it off to first-year
Riley Bent. Bent centered a pass to Lowe, who blasted a one-timer into the lower-left corner of the net with her first collegiate goal and giving the Rangers a 1-0 lead.
The Rangers doubled their lead in the 40th minute, when sophomore
Lillian Hedrick sent in a corner kick from the right side. Lara headed the pass toward the upper-right corner, and it deflected off the head off of a defender and into the net for her third goal of the season.
Drew outshot the Greyhounds 11-3 in the opening half and carried a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
Moravian found their offense in the second period, when it outshot the Rangers 12-4. The 'Hounds first struck following a corner kick in the 50th minute, then pulled even in the 72nd minute. Moravian completed its comeback with just 1:47 left, as Casey Sabolsky headed in another corner.
Caitlyn Phillips made four saves for the Greyhounds.
The Rangers are back in action on Saturday, when they host Susquehanna University at 2 p.m. in another Landmark Conference outing.
