Field Hockey Edges Moravian, Improves to 11-1

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior Liriana Seferovic scored the game-winning goal with 8:15 remaining and the Drew University field hockey team earned a 2-1 Landmark Conference victory at Moravian University Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Rangers (11-1, 3-0 LC) pushed their winning streak to seven and have posted the team's best record through 12 games since the 2013 squad was also 11-1.

Junior Beth Kelly recorded nine saves for Drew, which overcame a 17-5 shot deficit.

After a scoreless first quarter, freshman Karine Johnson put the Rangers on the scoreboard with Drew's only shot of the second period, converting a feed from senior Emily Monaco with 1:47 on the clock for her third tally of the year. However, the Greyhounds pulled even with just four seconds left before the intermission when Gia Ambrosino scored her 13th goal of the season.

It remained a 1-1 game into the fourth quarter until the Rangers were awarded a penalty corner with midway through the stanza. Seferovic injected the pass up top to junior Emma Rider, who dished off to sophomore Ellie Kopec on the left. Kopec blasted a shot that was tipped in by Seferovic for the defender's sixth goal of the season.

Kelly preserved the victory with her final stop of the night with 2:12 remaining.

The Rangers continue their Landmark Conference schedule on Saturday, when they visit Susquehanna University at 1 p.m.
