MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's basketball team outscored No. 2-ranked University of Scranton 21-14 in the fourth quarter and 34-27 in the second half, but the Royals earned a 71-48 victory in the Landmark Conference opener for both teams Wednesday evening in Baldwin Gym.
Junior guard
Alice Altomare led the Rangers (2-2, 0-1 LC) with 15 points, shooting 5-for-9 from 3-point range. She tied her career-high for points while setting a new career-best for 3-pointers made. Junior guards

Amy Rachilla contributed with seven points apiece.
Kace Kranson and Meghan Lamanna netted 15 points each for the Royals (4-0, 1-0 LC) while Katie Gorski added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Royals led 25-7 at the end of the first quarter and 44-15 at the half but Drew got hot in the third quarter, outscoring Scranton 12-3 late in the period. Senior guard
Maddie Beyer started the run with back-to-back layups, then assisted Altomare on consecutive 3-pointers. Freshman forward
Molly Chapman capped the run with a pair of free throws before Scranton made the final basket of the quarter to assume a 57-27 lead.
The Rangers continued to battle back in the fourth quarter and used an 11-4 to pull to within 19 (67-48) with 1:29 remaining. Altomare kicked off the surge with her final two 3-pointers, and Rachilla capped it with an and-1 layup.
Drew continues its season on Saturday, when it travels to Juniata College for another Landmark Conference matchup starting at 4 p.m.
