MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's swimming & diving team won six events but Montclair State University handed the Rangers a 119-99 setback in a dual meet Friday evening in F.M. Kirby Pool.
Senior
Brendan Burkett paced the Rangers with a pair of individual wins. He touched first in the 50-freestyle with a time of 21.61 seconds, then followed up with a 0.85-second win in the 100-freestyle, clocking a season-best time of 47.12.
Junior
Nicholas Heinio-Widell added a victory in the 200-freestyle (1:44.66), finishing over a second in front of his nearest competitor, while freshman
Marcell Hudak posted a three-second victory in the 400-IM (4:16.30). Senior
Gabe Spivak contributed a win in the 100-breaststroke (59.58).
The Rangers also won the 200-medley relay, as senior
Ricky Kilichowski, Spivak, junior
Kyle Talerico, and sophomore
Thiago Silva prevailed by nearly two seconds in 1:37.11.
Adding one runner-up finish apiece were junior
Liam Gregory in the 1,000-freestyle (10:08.03), Silva in the 50-freestyle (21.88), Heinio-Widell in the 100-butterfly (51.27), Kilichowski in the 100-backstroke (56.16), Hudak in the 500-freestyle (4:54.32), and freshman
Joseph Hernandez in the 1-meter diving (91.20).
Drew returns to action Dec. 5-6 with the 14th annual Ranger Invitational.
