Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Brooklyn in Home Finale

MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's volleyball team closed the home portion of the schedule on a high note, sweeping Brooklyn College in a non-conference matchup Thursday evening in Baldwin Gym.

In the first-ever meeting between the two squads, the Rangers won by scores of 25-17, 25-17, 25-21.

Sophomore Skyler Ribitzki threw down a career-high nine kills and hit .400 for the Rangers while classmate Lindsey Millis added nine kills and 13 digs. Senior Inaya Stanford contributed seven kills and three blocks while freshman Cristina Coombs and junior Alyssa Rachwal distributed 16 and 15 assists, respectively. Sophomore Aidyn Stone scooped 13 digs for Drew while freshman Coco Otto added nine digs and three aces.

In the opening set, the Rangers opened up some breathing room with a 7-2 spurt midway through the period to go up 17-12. Drew led just 18-15 before closing on another 7-2 outburst, which included three kills from Millis.

The Rangers used another run midway through the set to take control in the second game, as a 10-4 surge put the home team up 19-10. Drew led by at least six the rest of the way.

The third set was the closest of all, but the Rangers never trailed after an early 4-0 spurt put them up 6-3. The Bulldogs tied it twice and kept it close the rest of the way, and Drew led just 23-21 before scoring the last two points on a service error and attack error.

Drew plays its season finale on Saturday, when it visits Manhattanville University at noon in a non-conference affair.
