Emory Rallies Twice Versus Softball

HONOLULU – The Drew University softball team twice carried a lead into the late innings, but Emory University used a pair of rallies to sweep a doubleheader from the Rangers during the team's spring break trip to Hawaii.

Drew (5-3) led 6-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth in the opener before the Eagles (12-2) scored five runs over the last two innings. The Rangers also held a 5-1 lead after five innings of play in the nightcap before Emory rallied with a seven-run sixth inning.

Junior Olivia Magliacano posted another big game at the plate for the Rangers, finishing 5-for-7 while bashing the team's first home run of the season.

In the opener, Drew and its starting pitcher, sophomore Allie Porbansky, led 5-2 after five inning before Emory rallied with three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh, capped by a walk-off, two-out single.

Magliacano finished 3-for-4 in the opener while senior MacKenzie Pisani doubled and drove in three runs. Porbansky threw all 6 2/3 innings, striking out four and walking only one.

In the second game, Magliacano finished 2-for-3, and her three-run homer in the bottom of the second to go up 4-1.
