MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's tennis team won five of the nine singles and doubles matches, but Ursinus College edged the Rangers by a final of 4-3 on Wednesday in a non-conference match at the Drew University Tennis Complex.
The Rangers (4-4) opened the match by sweeping the three doubles matches to capture the doubles point. Senior
Mary Kalorin and graduate student
Sophie Weaver won 6-4 at the No. 1 spot while sophomore
Riley Roesel and junior
Natalia Zamora claimed a 7-5 decision at No. 2. Senior
Elise Parisi and junior
Jada Worthem contributed a 6-4 triumph at No. 3.
The Bears (5-3) came back to win four of the six singles matches, with three of those victories decided on a tiebreaker. Earning singles wins for Drew were Weaver, who won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 and sophomore
Danielle Pettoni, who prevailed 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5.
The Rangers return to Landmark Conference play on Saturday, when they visit Catholic University in a 1 p.m. start.
