Baseball Captures Road Win Over Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. - Eight different starters collected a hit and the Drew University baseball team used a strong start to down the University of Scranton 10-8 on Wednesday in a Landmark Conference affair.

The Rangers (9-10, 3-5) jumped to an 8-1 lead through five and a half innings, only to see the Royals (8-7, 5-2) rally late, scoring three in the bottom of the ninth while putting the tying run at the plate. But senior Matt Colurcci got out of it with back-to-back outs to end the game.

Freshman Connor Stokoe and junior Benjamin Cacoiolo collected two hits apiece for the Rangers while sophomore Jack Mocik scored three runs. On the mound, senior Raiden Yost tossed five innings to earn the win, allowing just one run on two hits. Sophomore Tyler Bell and Colucci pitched two innings of relief each.

The Rangers continue their season on Thursday, when they host New Jersey City at 3:30 p.m. in a non-conference tilt.
