MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University women's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Manhattanville University in a non-conference tilt on Wednesday in the Simon Forum.
Senior
Mary Kalorin, senior
Elise Parisi, and graduate student
Sophie Weaver all won at both singles and doubles as Drew handed the Valiants (12-3) just their third loss of the season.
The Rangers (5-5) won all three doubles matches to assume a 1-0 lead to start the match. Kalorin and Weaver captured a 6-0 sweep at No. 1, and with her victory, Kalorin tied the school record for doubles victories with 51.
Sophomore
Riley Roesel and junior
Natalia Zamora added a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles while Parisi and junior
Jada Worthem won 6-1 at No. 3.
In singles action, Kalorin was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 1 while Weaver prevailed 7-5, 7-6 (6-3) at No. 2. Sophomore
Danielle Pettoni won 6-1, 6-2 and clinched the match at No. 5, as her victory made it 4-1. Parisi contributed a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6.
Drew is back in action on Saturday, when it visits Goucher College in a Landmark Conference affair beginning at 1 p.m.
