KINGS POINT, N.Y. – Senior
Mike DeMayo scored his 200th career point, but the Drew University men's lacrosse team dropped a 17-7 decision at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in a non-conference tilt Saturday afternoon.
DeMayo, who entered the day with 199 points, reached his milestone on a man-up goal late in the first quarter and finished the game with five points on three goals and two assists. He became just the fifth player in team history to reach the milestone and the first since Jon Bucknam C'10 in 2010.

Matt Giordano added three goals for the Rangers (3-2) while freshman
Nicholas Carabetta handed out a pair of assists. Sophomore
Jake Rainero, the reigning Landmark Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week, won 16-of-27 faceoffs while picking up eight ground balls.

Joe Barnish collected 11 saves over the opening 53:30 for Drew while freshman
Kaleb Belle stopped three shots without allowing a goal in the final 6:30. Junior
Cole Kirker contributed five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Jack Collins scored six goals for the Mariners (3-0) while Michael Emerick notched four goals and one assist.
Merchant Marine never trailed after jumping out to a 4-0 lead. However, the Rangers climbed back into it with a 3-0 run, starting with back-to-back goals from DeMayo late in the first quarter to make it a 4-2 game.
Giordano struck in a man-up situation early in the second quarter as Drew pulled to within 4-3. However, the Mariners came back with a 5-0 run before Giordano scored again in the final minute of the period, making it a 9-4 game at the half.
Giordano scored his final goal with 10:40 left in the third quarter to make it 10-5, but the hosts answered with a decisive 7-0 run to pull away.
The Rangers scored the game's final two goals when DeMayo netted another man-up tally with 12:40 left in the game before freshman
Joseph Carabetta set the final score with 4:49 to go.
Drew returns to action on Friday with the opening day of the second annual Leanos Cup. Manhattanville and Montclair State open play at 3 p.m. before the Rangers take on Immaculata at 7 p.m.
