MADISON, N.J. – Four members of the Drew University men's swimming & diving team have been recognized for their performance in the pool and in the classroom with their selections to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.

Sophomore Santiago Rubio Marrodan, sophomore Nick Shaffer, junior Gabe Spivak, and sophomore Kyle Talerico were honored with their first CSC Academic All-District award.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes swimming & diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.

To be nominated for the CSC Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade-point average. They must also compete in five competitions or finish in the top-eight at a conference meet.

An Economics major, Rubio Marrodan competed as both a swimmer and diver for the Rangers this past season. In diving, he posted top marks of 176.15 for the 1-meter and 161.80 on the 3-meter board. He also competed as a swimmer in the 50-freestyle, 100-freestyle, 100-breaststroke, 200-breaststroke, 100-butterfly, 200-IM, and 400-IM.

Shaffer, also an Economics major, competed in three events at the Landmark Conference Championships this past season and placed fifth in the 200-backstroke, 10th in the 100-backstroke, and 13th in the 500-freestyle.

A Finance major, Spivak competed in three events at the conference championship this past winter and came in third in the 200-breaststroke to earn All-Landmark Conference Honorable Mention. In addition, he placed fifth in the 100-breaststroke and 16th in the 50-freestyle.

Talerico, a Cybersecurity major, competed in five events at the Landmark Conference Championships and won gold medals in the 200-butterfly, 200-freestyle relay, and 800-freestyle relay, earning First Team All-Landmark Conference honors in the process. He also took third in the 100-butterfly to capture All-Landmark Conference Honorable Mention. In addition, Talerico placed 11th in the 200-IM.

The four helped the Rangers to a 3-2 dual-meet record and a third-place finish at the Landmark Conference Championships this past season.
