Results - Day Two Preliminaries

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Nicholas Heinio-Widell tied for 19th among 42 competitors in the 100-butterfly on the second day of the NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Competing in his second event of the Championships, Heinio-Widell clocked a time of 48.48 seconds, just 0.33 seconds shy of his own Drew and Landmark Conference record.

Additionally, he came within 0.45 seconds of placing 16th and qualifying for the consolation final. The ninth through 16th-place finishers who compete in the consolation final are named honorable mention All-Americans while the top-eight finishers who swim in the championship final receive First Team All-America recognition.

Heinio-Widell's finish was the second-best in Drew men's swimming & diving history at the NCAA Championships behind only the 13th-place showing from Hayden Koh C'24 in the 200-butterfly at the 2023 meet.

Heinio-Widell will compete in his final event of the meet on Saturday, when he swims in prelims of the 100-freestyle. The session begins at 10 a.m.
