MADISON, N.J. – Sophomore
Grace Patane and junior
Aubrey Welch combined for 13 goals and the Drew University women's lacrosse team downed Goucher College 19-11 in a Landmark Conference matchup on Senior Day in Ranger Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Patane posted career-highs in goals (seven) and assists (three) while Welch set a career-high for goals as well.
Freshman
Kristina Lowe added three goals, one assist, and five caused turnovers for the Rangers while classmate
Hayden Scotti added two goals and two assists. Junior
Emily Monaco contributed seven draw controls.
In goal, sophomore
Paige Shaw started and made four saves in the first half before freshman
Rorrie Sifers stopped a pair of shots in the second half.
Prior to the start of the game, Drew's lone senior,
Beth Dobrich, was recognized in a brief ceremony.
Drew led just 4-3 at the end of the first quarter, when Welch scored twice and Patane and Scotti tallied once apiece.
The Rangers broke it open in the second quarter, outscoring the Gophers 8-2 to assume a 12-5 halftime lead. Patane erupted for four goals in the period while Welch, Lowe, and Scotti also scored in the stanza.
Drew edged Goucher 5-4 in the third quarter and led 17-9 heading into the final period. Lowe and Patane each netted a pair of goals in the stanza while Welch added one tally.
Welch capped the scoring for Drew when she tossed in the first two goals of the fourth quarter. Goucher didn't score until it struck twice in the last two minutes.
The Rangers complete their regular season next Saturday, when they host Juniata College in another Landmark Conference tilt.
