BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Drew University softball traveled to No. 23-ranked Moravian University for a Landmark Conference doubleheader on Wednesday.
Â
The Greyhounds won the opener 5-1 before capturing a 10-2 decision in five innings in the second game.
Â
In the first game, Moravian (18-4, 4-0 LC) went ahead 1-0 in the first before the Rangers pulled even in the top of the second on an RBI-single from junior
Zoey Shimp. However, the Greyhounds answered with three runs in the bottom half to go up 4-1.
Â
Senior
Teagan Bradley allowed just one run over the last four innings for Drew. She finished with three strikeouts over six innings pitched.
Â
Junior Sarah DeStefano tossed a complete game four-hitter while striking out seven for the Greyhounds.
Â
The second game followed a similar script, as Moravian scored a run in the first inning before Drew tied it up, this time in the top of the third on an RBI-single from junior
Olivia Magliacano. But the Greyhounds plated four in the bottom half to go up 5-1.
Â
Drew scored its final run in the fifth when junior
Josie Di Troia crossed the plate on a double-steal attempt to make it 5-2. However, Moravian added three more in the bottom fifth to bring the game to an end.
Â
Di Troia finished 2-for-3 in the second game. Sophomore
Allie Porbansky started in the circle for the Rangers and pitched three innings before freshman
Gabby Duran worked 1 2/3 innings of relief.
Â
Kyra Holtje went the distance in the circle for the Greyhounds, scattering six hits.
Â
Drew returns to action on Thursday, when it hosts Kean University at 3 p.m. in a non-conference doubleheader.
